The monthly fee begins only when your storefront is marked Active/Live on the marketplace.

You are not charged while your store is inactive or in Dormant Mode.

If a monthly payment is not completed, your storefront will be temporarily suspended.

Once payment is resolved, your store will be reactivated.

The monthly storefront fee covers:

  • Marketplace hosting
  • Vendor dashboard access
  • Product listing management
  • Order management tools
  • Buyer exposure within the platform
  • Platform tools and ongoing maintenance

Yes, a small commission may apply per sale. Details are provided during onboarding.

No.

SHOP KIJIJI is a curated platform, not an open listing site.

We review every application carefully and select partners based on:

  • Product quality
  • Cultural integrity
  • Alignment with our mission
  • Operational readiness

Acceptance is not automatic, and submission does not guarantee approval.

We prioritize partners who demonstrate:

  • Craftsmanship and material honesty
  • Thoughtful, intentional design
  • Cultural grounding and accuracy
  • Ethical production and fair labor
  • Clear communication and reliability

We welcome:

  • Independent makers
  • Small brands
  • Cooperatives
  • Select distributors aligned with our standards

Scale is not a prerequisite.

Because KIJIJI is not just about products.

We are building a marketplace rooted in:

  • Memory
  • Dignity
  • Lineage
  • Everyday beauty

Understanding who you are and why you make what you make helps us curate responsibly and tell stories truthfully.

No, not by default.

Any exclusivity, limited runs, or special collaborations must be:

  • Mutually agreed
  • Clearly defined
  • Time-bound
  • Documented in writing

In most cases, vendors are responsible for:

  • Packaging
  • Shipping
  • Processing times
  • Customer communication related to fulfillment

Clear timelines and reliability are essential to partnership.

The Vendor Code of Conduct outlines shared expectations around:

  • Cultural integrity
  • Ethical practice
  • Customer care
  • Brand representation

It exists to protect:

  • Vendors
  • Customers
  • The integrity of the KIJIJI platform

Agreement is required before onboarding.

Typically 2–3 weeks, depending on volume.

If we need additional information, we’ll reach out before making a final decision.

Cooperatives are welcome and valued.

We look for:

  • Clear cooperative structure
  • Member participation
  • Fair compensation
  • Transparency in production and storytelling

Cooperatives are held to the same quality and fulfillment standards as all partners.

When do I pay the $25 setup fee?

The $25 one-time Storefront Setup Fee is only required after your application is approved.
This fee activates your storefront, onboarding, and account configuration.

Dormant Mode allows you to temporarily pause your storefront (for vacation, inventory updates, or breaks).

While your store is dormant, no monthly fees are charged.

Billing resumes once you reactivate your store.

Yes. You may deactivate or pause your storefront at any time.

There are no long-term contracts or cancellation penalties.

No. The pricing structure is transparent:

  • $0 application
  • $25 one-time setup (after approval)
  • $25/month only when active

No hidden charges.

No.

Approval means you are invited into partnership, not guaranteed permanent placement.

We periodically review:

  • Product quality
  • Fulfillment performance
  • Alignment with platform values
  • Customer experience

This allows us to protect the integrity of the marketplace for everyone involved.

No.

However, cultural integrity is non-negotiable.

If your work draws from African or African-diasporic traditions, we expect:

  • Accuracy
  • Respect
  • Transparency about sourcing, influence, and collaboration

We do not support appropriation or extraction.

Depending on fit, we may work with vendors through:

  • Wholesale
  • Consignment
  • Dropship / direct fulfillment

The specific model is discussed after acceptance and confirmed in writing.

No model is assumed at application stage.

We expect pricing that:

  • Supports fair labor
  • Reflects true material and production costs
  • Avoids race-to-the-bottom practices

We may provide pricing guidance to ensure alignment with our platform standards.

We do not pressure vendors to underprice their work.

We understand that issues happen.

What matters most is:

  • Transparency
  • Prompt communication
  • Willingness to correct the issue

Repeated issues or lack of responsiveness may lead to review, pause, or removal.

Yes, if:

  • Quality declines
  • Fulfillment becomes unreliable
  • Cultural integrity standards are compromised
  • Platform alignment changes

Removal decisions are made thoughtfully and communicated clearly whenever possible.

Yes, in many cases.

You’re welcome to reapply if:

  • Your product line evolves
  • Quality documentation improves
  • Fulfillment capacity changes
  • Alignment becomes stronger

Some decisions, particularly around cultural integrity, may be final.
