Vendor Code of Conduct

This Vendor Code of Conduct (“Code”) outlines the standards of behavior, integrity, and responsibility expected of all partners selling on SHOP KIJIJI. By participating on the platform, Vendors agree to uphold these principles in all aspects of their work and relationship with KIJIJI.

1. Dignity & Respect

Vendors must operate with dignity and respect toward:

  • Customers
  • Workers and collaborators
  • Cultures, communities, and traditions represented in their work

Discrimination, harassment, or demeaning conduct of any kind is not tolerated.

 

2. Cultural Integrity & Accuracy

KIJIJI is rooted in African memory, heritage, and lived experience.

Vendors must:

  • Represent cultural references accurately and responsibly
  • Avoid appropriation, distortion, or exploitation
  • Speak from lived experience, documented study, or transparent collaboration

KIJIJI reserves the right to remove products or content that compromise cultural dignity.

 

3. Ethical Production & Labor

Vendors must:

  • Use fair labor practices
  • Avoid exploitative or coercive working conditions
  • Compensate workers reasonably and lawfully
  • Comply with all applicable labor laws

We prioritize human dignity over profit.

 

4. Product Quality & Honesty

Vendors agree to:

  • Deliver products that match approved descriptions and images
  • Disclose materials and sourcing honestly
  • Maintain consistent quality standards

Misrepresentation is grounds for removal.

 

5. Fair Pricing Practices

Pricing must:

  • Reflect true cost of labor and materials
  • Avoid race-to-the-bottom strategies
  • Support sustainable business practices

KIJIJI does not support pricing models that undermine dignity or quality.

6. Customer Care & Fulfillment

Vendors must:

  • Fulfill orders within stated timelines
  • Communicate clearly about delays or issues
  • Handle returns and exchanges fairly
  • Respond to customer inquiries promptly

Repeated fulfillment failures may result in suspension.

 

7. Transparency & Communication

Vendors must:

  • Communicate honestly with KIJIJI
  • Notify KIJIJI of material changes to products, pricing, or operations
  • Respond in a timely manner to platform communications

Silence or avoidance is considered a breach of trust.

 

8. Brand Representation

When representing themselves as a SHOP KIJIJI partner, Vendors must:

  • Avoid misleading claims
  • Refrain from behavior that harms the KIJIJI brand
  • Use KIJIJI branding only as authorized

 

9. Compliance With Law

Vendors must comply with:

  • Local, national, and international laws
  • Product safety regulations
  • Consumer protection standards

Illegal activity results in immediate termination.

 

10. Enforcement

Violations of this Code may result in:

  • Product removal
  • Temporary suspension
  • Termination of partnership

Severity and intent will be considered.
